Passion for Fashion...

If you haven't seen or heard Money Supermarket are doing a competition aimed specifically at bloggers called Passion for Fashion (click link to go to said comp).  The idea is to create 5 different looks each for under £200.  The looks are; Office, Casual, First Date, Outdoor and Party.

I love the concept of this comp, it's basically a themed wish list in my eyes.  So here are my picks:

blazer: topshop £40.00
shirt: topshop £36.00
trousers: zara £29.99
shoes: new look £24.99
bag: river island £40.00
lip stain: superdrug £7.99
TOTAL: £178.97

This look is actually relatively similar to a look I wear to work I've just replace the heels with some flats (I'm on my feet all day...)
When it comes to work and the office I like to wear black as it is easy and smart.  But black doesn't have to mean boring.  I also wanted to go with a look that felt a bit younger (suits can come later in life).

I went with skinny/cigarette style trousers as they are a bit more chic than other styles.  Teamed with a collar clipped shirt which covers the top half as well adding a slight accessory to the look, great for women on the go (or just women who are always running late like I am) because then you don't have to faff around trying to decide what necklace to wear.  Blazers are a must have for the office, they smarten up every look, this one has a lovely flattering cut.  I went with these lace open toe heels, be careful open shoes are not acceptable in every work place, but I like the design on these, they help to jazz up a quite simple outfit.  For work a relatively large bag is necessary and this one is perfect.  It is a good size with a simple design making it perfect for most office outfits.  Finally, I think a splash of red on the lip finishes off the look and also gives us a dose of much needed colour.  I've gone with a lip stain as reapplying opportunities might be low on the ground if one is busy and this has more staying power than a lipstick.

jeans: topshop £40.00
t-shirt: h&m £7.99
blazer: river island £40.00
shoes: new look £7.99
bag: zara £39.99
sunglasses: asos £12.00
bangles: new look £4.99
TOTAL:  £152.96

For the casual theme I've gone with the classic but never let you down look of jeans and a t-shirt.  The jeans in this look, I feel, should be worn turned up at the leg.  Not so they are peddle pushers but sit nicely on the shin.  The t-shirt I've chosen is a simple white affair but the neck and sleeve area are chiffon I feel this jazzes the look up a little.  I've added a blazer because even when casual I can't help but smarten something up a bit (you never know where you'll end up) but a cardi would work just as nicely.  The shoes are just simple, comfy navy plimsoles.  Because this is the sort of outfit I'd wear shopping or on a day out I thought a big bag was necessary to carry all your daily needs.  The colour of this bag compliments the navy in the outfit.  I've accessorised  the outfit with some tortoise shell sunglasses (in hope of some autumnal sun) and some cute stacked bangles.

First Date...

dress: asos £30.00
cardigan: new look £12.99
shoes: dorothy perkins £20.00
bag: h&m £7.49 (sale price)
earrings: new look £2.99 (6pk)
bracelets: new look £5.99
opi nail polish: john lewis £11.00
lip balm: superdrug £7.99
eyelashes: superdrug £5.25
TOTAL: £103.70

For the first date I've gone for quite a classic demure look.
The dress I have gone for is cute, it's quite short so it shows leg but not in a slutty way as the top half is relatively covered.  I've decided to pair the dress with a flat shoe rather than a heel (better for a quick get away if needed) my reasoning was if the date is to say the cinema a heel would be too overdressed but if you end up in a restaurant this shoe would be fine.  Plus they are so cute!  In terms of accessorising I've gone for this lovely pale pink and rose gold envelope bag.  I actually have this bag and love how it looks with navy clothing which is why I thought it would be perfect with is outfit.  To keep the theme flowing I have matched up the jewellery to the bag, with a rose gold and pearl set of bracelets and then some cute rose pearl earrings.  For make up a slick of the Revlon Lip Balm for a hint of pale pink colour on the lips (no kissing on the first date; I am a lady ;)) and OPI's 'You callin' me a lyre' on the nails for a pink sheen.  I have eylure's 100 eyelashes for a relatively natural looking enhanced lash, perfect for fluttering at your date.  Finally, I have a simple blue cardigan just in case of a slight chill (though I would hope my date would warm me up).

jacket: h&m £34.99
leggings: topshop £18.00
shirt: h&m £14.99
boots: clarks £79.99
bag: missguided £26.99
scarf: river island £16.00
umbrella: new look £7.99
TOTAL: £198.95

When it comes to the Autumn/Winter season a must have item is a good pair of boots.  They're perfect to keep your feet warm and fair well if the weather is wet or icy.  With this in mind I looked for a good resilient pair, this means they definitely must be leather with a good sole.  This pair from Clarks may be a bit pricey but they will see you all the way through the seasons and if you're lucky next years as well.  For an outdoor look I love the whole farmer/equestrian look (despite not liking horses).  Hence the tweed style jacket and the jodhpur style leggings.  I've teamed these all with a simple white shirt, which will be perfect if the temperature drops as you can layer over and under it.  A scarf is a must have to help keep warm and a big bag is necessary to keep hold of all your day to day needs.  When I first read the word outdoor my first thought was rain; hopeful thinking for British weather.  I don't feel a matching umbrella is necessary to an outfit I like to just have a bright colourful one to make up for dire weather.

dress: new look £32.99
shoes: missguided £35.99
bag: miss selfridge £29.00
bracelets: topshop £12.50
ring: dixi £4.00
lipstick: superdrug £5.49
TOTAL: £119.97

For this look I wanted to go with the classic LBD as you can't go wrong.  This is the LBD look with a twist, the gold stud embellishment and top to bottom zip gives this dress a bit of an edge.  To take advantage of this edge I have teamed the dress with a studded clutch bag, skull and spiked bracelets and a cross ring.  The chunky platform heels play along nicely with this edgy look.  Finish this look with a slick of bright red lipstick.  I love the slight rock chick feel to this look.

Doing this post was a lot of fun I've really enjoyed piecing together all these different looks.
